Safety is our #1 Priority
Safety is our #1 Priority- It always has been and always will be. In our practice, we have always treated our team and our patients like family. We have always followed strict OSHA, CDC, ADA, and AAO practice protocols and guidelines for sterilization.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been new protocols that the governing bodies have put in force. For the health and safety of our team and our patients, we are abiding by these new guidelines. These include social distancing, patients wearing masks, limiting the number of patients in the office, temperature checks, and a health screening questionnaire. We have also installed medical grade full office air filtration systems, UV lights in the air conditioning units to kill viruses and bacteria, and are wearing hospital level personal protection equipment.
To be clear, these are not guidelines that we have arbitrarily put into place. We are diligently following protocols and in light of the recent increase in cases in South Florida, we will continue to be steadfast in protecting the health of our patients and team.
These additional safety measures, though important, are not inherently convenient. We understand this and are trying to do everything that we can to make this transition to the “new normal” as easy and smooth as we can. To this end, we need your continued help.
Please follow the instructions that have been verbally explained to you when booking your appointment and reiterated on your appointment reminder email. Our waiting room is closed and only patients will be allowed entry into the office, so please call us as soon as you arrive. Consider this our “virtual waiting room." After being properly screened, all patients need to come wearing a mask. A contactless temperature check will be done immediately upon patient entry. Please know that if a temperature reads over 100.4 degrees (a CDC decision), that your appointment will need to be rescheduled.
***In the past few weeks, we have learned a few tips to help make your appointment seamless. Florida summers are HOT- so please stay in your air-conditioned car until we call you that we are ready for you to come in for your visit. Please dress for the season- hoodies, sweaters, or heavy clothes may inadvertently raise the reading on the thermometer. Athletic events or spending time outside immediately prior to your appointment can make your internal temperature rise temporarily. We understand that temperatures can vary, especially if affected by being outside or drinking a hot beverage. However, we can only use the data that is presented to us. For the peace of mind of everyone, if you have a high temperature, we will need to reschedule your appointment.
For those of you who have already had an appointment since the COVID closure, we think you can attest that we are the same loving, caring professionals that we have always been. Quality and compassion are two tenants that will never change. This added layer of safety is critical to continuing to practice and doing what we love to do. Thank you for being so kind, considerate, and patient during this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us prior to your appointment. We are here, happy to help, and eager to see your smiling faces (even if it’s underneath a mask)!
See you soon,
John Marchetto, Marissa Cooper, and Team
We are so excited to announce that we will be allowed to start seeing our patients and reopen our office on May 11, 2020!
As part of our ethical and civic responsibility, we have followed all regulatory and governmental regulations for the past few weeks and have restricted our practice to truly emergency patients. Though this caused inconveniences, some worry, and will continue to present challenges, we know that the health and safety of our community, patients and team is of paramount importance and we know that we will have a strong recovery.
Our practice was built on many principles. We pride ourselves on individualized, comprehensive care in a professional, family-centered, and caring environment. While we will continue to hold true to these credos, we all understand that due to recent circumstances, there are changes to office protocols that will have to change- at least for the short-term.
After careful consideration by both doctors, and in order to abide by the recent guidelines set out by the CDC, ADA, and AAO, we have made scheduling and office policy changes that will provide increased safety to our team and our patients.
In the coming days, team members will be calling to help reschedule missed appointments giving priority to those that were missed starting at the beginning of the office closure in March. Please be patient with us and understand that you do not need to call us. We have a system in place to make sure that there is not only continuity of care but also patients with active broken appliances and urgent treatment are given preference.
In order to confirm an appointment with our office, a person to person phone call with one of our team members will need to take place. This is to ensure that either the patient or responsible party is fully aware of new office guidelines and any questions or concerns can be answered. A follow up email will then be sent reminding you of this information for your reference.
We will work together to make sure that everyone understands our reopening plan and feels safe. To this end, it is important to talk to your children to understand that the new measures we are taking are for everyone’s best interest. All clinical team members will be wearing full gowns, masks, face shields, and any other personal protective equipment important for the procedure planned. Though you may not be able to see our smiles, we can guarantee that we will be grinning from ear to ear to be able to get back to doing what we love.
Dentistry has always been ahead of the game in terms of exemplary sterilization and sanitation procedures. We will continue to follow CDC, OSHA and our own high standards of safe practices. In light of recent events, not only has our office undergone extensive cleaning from top to bottom, but we have also installed a medical grade air purification system. We will be respecting social distancing guidelines by limiting the number of appointments per day and our waiting room will remain closed. Temperature checks will be done twice daily for team members and all patients entering our office will have their temperatures taken and will be fully screened as well. Our goal is to provide a safe healthy environment so that we can continue to treat patients while this pandemic continues.
Though we know that a lot of uncertainty and apprehension exists, please know that we are doing everything in our power to make this transition back as smooth as possible. There will be bumps in the road, but we plan to work through them together as a Marchetto Cooper family. Thank you for your understanding, support and all the love you have shown us over the past few weeks. We truly are Stronger Together!
John Marchetto, Marissa Cooper and the Marchetto Cooper Team
Just a reminder!
Please be aware that all previously scheduled appointments for March, April, May and June have had to be canceled due to the Covid Crisis. We are working to prepare a brand new schedule to accommodate everyone which will comply with the new guidelines that will be in place for everyone’s health and safety. In the next week, team members will be calling to help reschedule missed appointments giving priority to those that were missed starting at the beginning of the office closure in March. Please be patient with us and understand that you do not need to call us. We have a system in place to make sure that there is not only continuity of care but also patients with active broken appliances and urgent treatment are given preference.
Stay tuned! We can’t wait!
As we continue to face unprecedented and challenging times, we want to continue to wish our community, patients and families health and safety. We will continue to abide by the guidelines given to us by the Governor, the Florida Board of Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontics, and the Centers for Disease Control that have mandated the prohibition of any elective, routine, and non-emergency dental procedures until further guidance has been given to us.
Due to the fluidity of the current situation, we are only cancelling appointments at this time, but will contact you to reschedule your or your child’s appointment as soon as possible. Those whose appointments had to be cancelled at the start of office closure will be given priority in appointment scheduling when we return.
Please know that our entire team is prepared to modify our days and hours in order to best accommodate our patients when we return and can safely treat patients.
If any of our patients have any questions or concerns during this time, we will have a team member returning phone calls, emails, and we will continue to have the on-call emergency phone line available. The doctors are available as well to help with any emergencies that may arise.
We want you to know that we are in this together and are eagerly waiting to see you again. The health and wellbeing of our patients, team and community is our top priority.
We thank you for your continued trust and support! Please be safe and stay well!
John Marchetto, Marissa Cooper, and the entire Marchetto Cooper Orthodontics Team
